Dirt Work & Site PrepBuilding pads & sitework in Odessa & Midland, TX
Grading, building pad preparation and site prep in Odessa, Midland and the Permian Basin, done by the contractor that pours your slab and puts up your building.
Every good building starts with the dirt.
Before there’s a slab or a single steel frame, the site has to be ready: graded, built up to the right elevation and draining away from where the building will sit. Get that wrong and every stage after it pays for it.
Gorilla Builders TX does dirt work and site prep in Odessa, Midland and the Permian Basin, both as dirt-work-only jobs and as the first stage of our building projects. That includes caliche pads and yards, excavation and trenching. When the same contractor preps the pad, pours the slab and erects the building, the pad is built for the foundation that goes on it.

What we look at on a Permian Basin site.
- Soils. Caliche and expansive clay are common here. A geotechnical report guides how the pad is built.
- Drainage. Heavy rain is rare but hard. The pad and yard need to move water away from the building.
- Pad elevation. Set to the drainage plan and the slab design before any concrete is formed.
- Truck access. Delivery trucks and concrete trucks need a way in and room to work.
- What comes next. Building size, slab and future plans like yards or additions shape the pad.
Dirt work questions.
Do you do dirt work in Odessa and Midland?
Yes. Gorilla Builders TX does dirt work, grading, building pads, caliche pads and yards, excavation and trenching in Odessa, Midland and across the Permian Basin, on its own or as the first stage of a slab and building project.
Do you only do dirt work, or does it come with a building?
Both. Gorilla Builders TX takes dirt-work-only jobs, including building pads, caliche pads and yards, grading, excavation and trenching. We also do the dirt work as the first stage of a full project with the concrete and the metal building.
Do I need a soils report before building?
For a commercial building it’s a good idea. Expansive clay and caliche are common in the area, and a geotechnical report helps set the pad preparation and the foundation design.
Why does the pad matter so much?
The slab is only as good as the ground under it. A pad that’s built at the right elevation, compacted and drained keeps water away from the building and helps the foundation perform for the long term.
How much does dirt work cost?
It depends on the lot: how much soil has to move, whether fill is needed, drainage, access and the size of the pad. Send your site location and building size for a free quote.
